The regular study of God’s word is crucial to developing and maintaining a healthy faith and spiritual life. Both Sunday and Wednesday, age appropriate Bible classes are available for all, beginning with nursery and continuing through adult. Sunday classes meet at 10:40 AM following morning worship services. Wednesday classes meet at 7- 8 PM each Wednesday evening. Studies cover a variety of topics but are always Bible based. Every member of the Lehman family is encouraged to attend and participate in the appropriate Bible class. “They received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so.” Acts 17:11.
Other Youth Activities
Through the year the youth at Lehman are given the opportunity to learn the value of service to others through various service projects such as leaf raking for our older members or delivering fruit baskets to the shut-ins during the holidays. “But he who is greatest among you shall be your servant.” Matthew 23:11.
Summer Bible Camp
Each summer our young folks attend a week of Bible Camp with young folks from other congregations in the area. The week of camp provides our young people with periods of fellowship, Bible study, mentoring by faithful, dedicated Christian adults and enjoyment of God’s great outdoors.
Opportunities to engage in periods of fellowship and worship with other young folks are provided during the year including the Summer Youth Series, a series of area wide youth rallies jointly sponsored by sister congregations in the Southern Kentucky area.
Lads to Leaders is a leadership development program designed to equip young people from Kindergarten through College with the knowledge and skills to become Bible school teachers, personal workers and effective speakers and leaders in the Lord’s church. In this program adult mentors use the Bible to assist the youth in developing leadership talents through scripture memorization, Bible reading, speech preparation and presentation, debate, Bible bowl and song leading. Participants and sponsors attend an annual convention in Nashville, Tennessee that attracts thousands of youth from churches of Christ all over the country.
Every January, hundreds of leaders in their respective youth groups descend on the town of Savannah, Tennessee to attend Evangelism University. There they learn skills that will allow them to evangelize their peers. Outstanding, motivating and challenging speakers share their expertise in evangelism with the youth and sponsors in attendance.
Challenge Youth Conference, one of the largest gatherings of youth among churches of Christ, is held in Gatlinburg, Tennessee each February. This three day regional Youth Rally exposes youth to others of “like precious faith” from all over the country as well as to effective communicators of the Word who will challenge them to “grow in grace and knowledge.”(2 Peter 3:18)
Horizons is a leadership training camp for young people entering 7th grade through those finishing 12th grade. It is held annually during the first full week of July on the campus of Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee. Teens worship and learn to lead by becoming disciples and through service.
